About Me

Georgena “Georgie” Mierow likes to think of herself as a renaissance woman in media. She has a strong passion for news, labor rights, and pop culture. She brings editorial experience across a range of media platforms, including newspapers, digital media, social media, and television journalism, along with strong communication expertise.

Georgena is currently a Producer at The Hill, where she specializes in visual storytelling, including writing and producing both editorial and opinion content. In her current role, she covers Congress, the White House, and both national and international stories. Georgena also serves as a union negotiator for The Hill Guild, where she represents and advocates on behalf of her colleagues during collective bargaining negotiations. 

Originally hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors from the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA), earning a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications in 2022. She went on to complete her Master’s degree in Media and Strategic Communication at SMPA in 2023. 

Georgena has held internships with several prominent news organizations, including television news work for Spectrum News. In 2021, she was recognized by the American News Women’s Club and honored alongside renowned journalist Lesley Stahl. 

She is a board member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and a member of the National Press Club.
