Memberships
Georgena is a board member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Washington, D.C. chapter. SPJ is the oldest and largest journalism organization in the United States, dedicated to upholding the First Amendment and promoting ethical journalism. She assists the chapter with outreach to early career journalists and students.
She also is a member of the Washington-Baltimore News Guild. She serves as a union negotiator for her newsroom, where she has helped bargain a contract for her colleagues and organized union activities.
Georgena is also a multi-year member of the National Press Club also located in Washington, D.C.
Awards
American News Women’s Club
Georgena received a student journalism award from the American News Women’s Club where she was honored alongside broadcast news legend Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes.
